Welland’s Passion For Cycling

Welland Company is using its passion for cycling to help encourage and inspire young athletes in the Savannah, GA community, as well as to support various non-profit organizations through charity rides.

When not building customized software solutions, Welland is dedicated to building lifetime athletes through service, mentorship and commitment. That is the mission of Welland Racing, a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains and prepares young cyclists regardless of economic status or background to be stronger individuals, supportive teammates and better members of society.

Welland Racing operates in partnership with Nextgen Athlete Development, as well as with support from Perry Rubber Bike Shop, Specialized, Ridge Supply, wahoo and LEX Apparel. This combined effort, along with ambassador riders, legacy mentors and coaches provide junior cyclists with the opportunity to meet other local junior riders, improve their racing abilities and educate them on the importance of teamwork on and off the bike. In addition, fundraisers, donations, and sponsorships help kids who are underserved and cannot afford a bike of their own.

The Welland Racing Club currently has more than 20 members, male and female, who participate in multiple events throughout the racing season, including state and national championships. The junior cyclists have nothing but positive words for the club, its coaches and their mentors.

Other junior cyclists credited the club for creating new friendships and inspiring them to go above and beyond their limits. In addition to its efforts with young athletes, Welland has been an active supporter of a two-day Seattle to Vancouver (S2V) invitational charity ride. The company’s contributions range from financial sponsorship to hard work, valuable time and employees participating in the ride. Over the years, the S2V ride has raised over $208,000 for important causes such as Team Gleason, Bikeworks, Reading Partners, Shelterbox, and Mary’s Place.

Whether working with clients or the community, Welland values the importance of growing the next generation and helping those in need.

  • Cycling has opened up doors for me to be fit for other sports I’m involved in, as well as allowing me to feel good about myself. Welland has given me a safe place to work out that is full of great people, and I appreciate it.
